Big Move Surf Contest Rocks Coombesgate
ByThe inaugural ‘Big Move’ surf contest which was held on August 1st, at the low tide break of Coombesgate near Woolacombe, North Devon proved to be a good time. The Contest was organized by Christian Surfers UK in partnership with Creation Fest and culminated in the surfers being awarded their trophies and cheques at the Creation Fest music festival on the main stage. Bude was represented with not only Joss taking first place, but with Paul Kirby taking 2nd. Andrew Griffin from Cubert was 3rd, and Westward Ho’s Jake Bowrey 4th. The event had a real “grass roots” feel, as there was no public address system allowed which took us back to the feel of the early competitions from the late 80’s. On Saturday 2nd in the evening Creation Fest hosted the European premier of the new movie ‘Walking on Water’. Featured surfer Cheyne Cottrell was interviewed in front of a packed marquee.
